Modern Jewish Mom

Parenting with a Twist of Tradition

Hi I am new here and my family tries to be as Torah observant as we can. Is there anyone else here that is that way maybe and can bond with me on being Torah observant and hip and nice looking at the same time? thanks.

Texas girl huh?
well, i see many beautiful torah observant women at the j.c.c.
Their heads are always covered in the latest new color or new hat fashion. Pretty skirts and blouses.
Cute closed toe sandals/shoes.. It's hot as hell here in the south.
I am not torah observant, but pretty much dress to cover anyway.
I just feel more comfortable not exposing too much of my skin. Of course if i would be able to lose about 40 lbs...
I wouldn't mind going sleeveless, backless, and wear more shorter skirts...but that's just me.
Back in the 80's i used to have a closet full of hats! remember madonna, demi moore, banana-rama, blondie,
hats were the rage back then..of course not geared towards torah observant women, but i sure do miss all my hats!
i should have kept them!.

I live in Florida now. There are no Jewish people where I am except for reformed and I am Torah obvervant. I do not mind anybody who believes in HaShem but the people over here are only "Jewish" by blood, they eat whatever, dress and do whatever and are no different from everyone else.

I like to look nice for my husband and when I go out not look too revealing, I don't wear a headwrap all of the time but sometimes I do, I was looking online for pretty modest clothes that don't look like my grandmas clothes or all black stuff that comes all the way to your feet. I have found some in my search and a website call clothesand stuff that has very nice headwraps and headbands, etc.

Thanks though. When I do go back to Houston, we will probably go to one of the synagouges there.
