Here in Israel we have a 6 day working week, so I look forward to Shabbat.
We have a shiur on Friday nights during the winter which changes to Shabbat day in summer time when Shabbat goes out later.
Here is my blog about our daily life in Israel

After a busy, hectic week I look forward to Shabbat. Twenty-five hours of serenity, no news, no TV, no rushing here or there.
Often we have family or friends over, there is always a good shiur to listen to especially our Chabbad Rabbi who gives a shiur on the parsha with with Hasidic insights. I love Kabbala so I understand the deeper meaning of the shiur.

The challenge of making Shabbat dinner special is especially difficult when mom is gluten free. We also are vegetarians. The mitzvah of two challahs is done separately so not to contaminate the rest of the meal. Me having gluten can be life threatening. I need a good recipe for gluten free Challah.

Shabbat! My weekly project. Now that my 2 youngest kids are teenagers, Friday night table discussions must be interesting, fun and even funny. But never do I want to resort to giving a lecture. When they were little we use to do Shabbat plays.

I just got a book that comes with two activity books that I am going to work on, Its called Chocolate Chip Challah and other fun twists to shabbat. The activity books go over shabbat and the various holidays with crafts, stickers and all sorts of stuff.

Theres the link for amazon. I just got it the other day, havent dug into it yet, but it looks like fun. My kids are 2,5,7 so anything with stickers is a winner lol

My son who just started college this year, actually calls every Friday to get his shabbat blessing over the phone! Or he even video chats and gets one too! Technology brings us all closer.
