-Norene Gillitz writes great practical and healthy cookbooks. I really don't want to cook gourmet or quick and easy either. Give me a real recipe that I can adapt to my family's tastes and my pocketbook and I'm cookin'!
I have been reading and collecting kosher cookbooks for about 8 months now. I am always trying new recipes and seeing which authors have the best recipes.
Does anyone want to share their fave Jewish cookbooks? Any of them the kind that you feel l...
Thanks so much for the web site!!! I am always looking for great kosher cooking ideas and esp at Passover.
Tonight we are having a pasta & bread fix!! This past week showed us that we are carb cravers and not much of meat people.
Last day today....
I promised after today we would go to the dollar movie and have POPCORN!!!
We have done great! JUst lots of fish, meat, chicken, veggies. No pasta, corn, beans, rice, bread, basically no junk food.. Been hitting the water big ti...
We also eat rice & beans. I got rid of everything else except the foods with corn syrup and vinegar. That would have eliminated so much more. I am glad to hear that someone else is eating a lot of junk because I thought it was only our family. Mat...
My family has never done more than set aside a cabinet for Passover stuff. This year I did a little more-- I cleaned out the pantry and put the chametz in a big plastic bin in another room. I don't bother making sure things say "kosher for Passove...
I got rid of everything but the items with corn syrup because we do not have any access to Kosher for Passover food and that left even less to eat. My little kids (1 & 2 yrs old) are going to have a VERY long week without Mac & Cheese. The older k...
i'm with matzobelle.
about the rules being hers. Mazel tov on your kosher kitchen. The rules are yours.
I'm pretty sure you informed them first, that your kitchen is Kosher, and they don't need to bring anything.
I agree with having set foods, dri...
We do not have a kosher kitchen, but a close friend does. She is very sweet about it but the rules are hers when in her kitchen. She makes people feel welcome yet explains the ground rules as much as anyone needs or wants to hear.
Further to Sheri's discussion, it may be a good idea to assume in terms of drinks. So instead of asking everyone what they'd like to drink, offer something specific. Saves space on the table, and makes eye-contact during dinner discussion easier t...
Have margarine or other non-dairy spread on the table as well as water and other beverages. I doubt that anyone will ask specifically for a dairy item. If they do, you can politely explain that you are out and offer a non-dairy alternative.
Do yo...
I finally have a kosher kitchen with separate meat and dairy dishes etc.. But now I have a question. In two weeks I am having an Catholic family over for dinner. What do I do if they ask for a dairy item at a meat meal? For example, butter for the...
Wow! That friend of yours is amazing! The little ones just discovered PLayDoe a month ago and that extruder is a huge hit but I just do not know if I am that daring!! That story is just too funny!!
I have three older kids, 15, 13 &10 who would lo...

About Me:
I am a former Christian who studied the roots of my faith 7 years ago and that lead me down the path of now wanting to convert to Judiasm. I have been Sabbath observant, eating kosher and celebrating the holy days for 7 years the best that I learned how. My husband and 5 children study together and have all made the decision to pursue a formal conversion. We live in an area where there are VERY few practicing Jews and one conservative synagogue. I would love to glean info on so many topics about being a Jewish wife and mother from so many Jewish women.
