I need someone who will treat me like a lady. You sound as a man of my dream in your profile today on and it sounds good about you thats why I contacted you for relationships.I have my preferences, and I do not think it is necessary for love to be segrigated by Age. Every woman all have a man of her dream.Sorry my profile is not enough here but will tell you more details about me if you find time to write me thruogh my email (vivan_larry@yahoo.com) Cares to know you. Yours sweet heart miss vivan. vivan_larry@yahoo.com

Hi Karen,
Great to hear from you!! My Dad is a survivor who has volunteered at the HM since it opened. I have been there on several occassions. I resided in Annapolis now...I went to Yad Vashem in 1976. It has been way too long since I have been to Israel (I went with a youth group). How was your trip to Israel??? Did you go with a organization? Our you local to DC? Sorry for all the questions...SMiles, Sandy

omg--did I not reply to your post about planning your son's bar mitzvah from back in Dec! I'm so sorry! Anyway, I'm now freakin' out too. I thought it would be so much fun and now the reality of how much it's going to cost is hitting and I just don't want to deal.

As far as themes go, I've told Sofie that since her bat mitzvah is on Sukkot that will be her theme. We'll play up the whole harvest thing (I'm imagining fruits and vegetables in the centerpieces). We'll have the party Sat night at our synagogue. I've already booked disc jockey, caterer, but don't have a photographer. I'm thinking of not having a videographer and I'm dead set against that 'this is your life" video thing--she'll be 13! What kind of retrospective does she need? Plus they are always so boring (even for family).

that's as far as I've gotten, although I looked up her torah portion (I know it because it's sukkot so it's a special portion) and it's the section where we read "There is a time for every purpose under Heaven. A time to be born, a time to die...." so that's very cool!

And, since her name is SOFIE, she wants to give the kids those SOFFEE shorts, but have them printed with SOFIE instead (I think we'll do basketball shorts for the boys).

I really want to keep it to no more than 150 guests. Trying to figure out how to limit the grandparents' guests. We asked for their "wish lists" and if we have everyone they want (as in their friends) it's 6 tables worth! ummmmm...no!

Thanks, Karen! I'd love to see your pictures. I grew up with dogs (a poodle and a Bichon Frise), and so miss having pets. My husband, though, is not an animal person, so I live vicariously through other pet owners (for now! I still hold out hope...).

Hi, Karen! Thanks so much for the welcome!

My husband and I have always had an interest in making an international move, but the timing just never seemed right. Last year, though, we decided to make a go of it, and Australia was at the top of the list. I've always dreamed of coming here - just fascinated by the land and the culture. With the kids, it seemed like a good choice, given that they wouldn't have a language barrier to overcome (unless you count the slang here!).

I'm a SAHM, a former children's book editor/writer. I used to work at Scholastic in NYC, and still do freelance for them occasionally. My DH and I are originally from Long Island and (pre-kids) lived in Vienna, VA, for a couple of years, just outside of DC. It was lovely there.

DH is in marketing, and took a position as Marketing Director for a cosmetics distributor here in Melbourne. We've been here just over a month, and are slowly settling in. Yes, there is a Jewish community (about 55,000 in Melbourne, I believe), though I'm finding it's mostly centered about 40 minutes south of where we're living, in an area called St. Kilda/Caulfield. We're northeast of the city, where there does seem to be some semblance of a Jewish community in the next town over, mostly made up of expats from South Africa. I'm still feeling my way around, and we'll hopefully make it to a temple soon. With our two year old, services are a bit dicey. I'm hoping to make it to a family Shabbat this month.

So, that's our story! Thanks again for the welcome! I look forward to meeting everyone here!

Kimberly

Hi Meredith. I am freaking out. B-M are way different in Fredericksburg VA than in NYC. I am also limited financially with a daughter in college and it just being me. I already booked the reception location. A local golf club (tennis is not so big here so no tennis clubs). It is really pretty and 1/2 the price of more commercial locations such as Holiday Inn. We had our tasting and are set on food. Kevin wants a tennis theme so that is next. He is not really nervous and rocking on the prayers. We are a very small reform shul so I am hoping to stay in my budget. Has your daughter thought of any themes or places?

Hi! Welcome! Can we talk bar/bat mitzvah planning? My daughter's is in Fall 2009 -- I really want to keep it low key and the fact that it is the Saturday that Sukkot starts that year I think I have that extra "meaning" built in. What are you planning for your son? Is he nervous? How are you juggling it all?????

Hi Karen,

Thank you for your message. DC is a beautiful city, I visited it in 2001, when friends of mine lived there. I know there is a very large Jewish Community in NYC; in Rome, the community counts approx. 15,000 members.
I'll talk to you soon,
Letizia
